Large-Scale CNC Milling Capacity with Fermat WFT 13 (up to 20 t, X 4000 mm, Y 2000 mm)

Large-Scale CNC Milling Capacity with Fermat WFT 13 (up to 20 t, X 4000 mm, Y 2000 mm)

We have expanded our heavy-duty machining capabilities with the installation of a Fermat WFT 13 horizontal boring & milling center.
The machine’s high-rigidity spindle and a table rated for workpieces up to 20 tons enable precise and efficient machining of large components.

Fermat WFT 13 horizontal boring and milling center at LDS Metall
Fermat WFT 13 at LDS Metall — configured for large-part precision milling and boring.

What this unlocks

  • Large work envelope: travel up to X 4000 mm and Y 2000 mm for oversized parts.
  • Heavy workpieces: table capacity up to 20 t for demanding setups.
  • Process stability: rigid fixturing and controlled cutting parameters for consistent accuracy on long cuts.
  • Efficient roughing & finishing: optimized strategies for flatness, perpendicularity, and surface quality per drawing.

FAQ

What is the maximum workpiece size and weight?

We machine parts up to 4000 mm (X) × 2000 mm (Y), with a table capacity up to 20 t.

Which materials do you machine?

We regularly machine common engineering metals (e.g., carbon/stainless steels, aluminum, cast iron) and can review other alloys on request.

Which CAD files do you accept?

Drawings in PDF are sufficient to quote; neutral 3D formats such as STEP/IGES help accelerate programming and DFM feedback.

How do you ensure accuracy on large parts?

By combining rigid fixturing, controlled toolpaths, progressive verification, and documented in-process checks aligned to the drawing.
